Campus Parking/Transit and Police Co-exist, Co-operate

Campus parking and transportation (P&T) departments report mostly positive relationships with their campus police and security departments. Eighty percent of P&T managers responding to an informal PARKING Magazine poll say their working relationships with police to be "good" or "satisfactory." Twenty percent rate the relationship as "needing improvement."

Traditional parking management and enforcement efforts have typically relied on two methods of getting around - pedestrian patrols and gasoline-powered vehicles. However, there can be drawbacks to both approaches. An increasingly popular option that addresses both issues is the use of what are termed "electric standup vehicles" or "personal mobility vehicles." These clean-energy units offer a high degree of mobility and energy efficiency that parking management companies are finding attractive.
