National Building Museum Opens House of Cars Exhibit

The National Parking Association (NPA) has partnered with the National Building Museum in Washington, DC, to present a groundbreaking exhibition titled House of Cars: Innovation and the Parking Garage. The exhibition opened on Oct. 17, 2009, in conjunction with the NPA's 58th Annual Conference, and will be open to the public through July 11, 2010. In addition to serving as the Presenting Sponsor, the NPA will also provide many of the exhibit artifacts through loans and donations provided by its members.

House of Cars is the first exhibition of its kind to explore parking garages and the parking industry. It presents the history of parking structures, from the first decades of the 20th century to the stylish and innovative buildings of today. The exhibition covers engineering, design, and the future of parking, and its dynamic design and ideas will engage the Museum's visitors of all ages from around the country and the world.

In addition to NPA's Presenting Sponsorship, NPA member Colonial Parking, Inc., of Washington, DC, is a Benefactor of the exhibit, and members Brett Harwood Ventures, Carl Walker Inc., Impark, Tech Painting Company, and WPS North America are Presenting Sponsor Supporters of the exhibit. A traveling version of the exhibit will be featured at the NPA's 59th Annual Conference to be held Oct. 11-14, 2010, in Boston. For details and up-to-date information on the exhibition and associated programming, please visit www.nbm.org.
