NPA Board Updates Bylaws

The NPA Board of Directors voted in February 2012 to reduce the size of the Board from a nearly 100-person board to a more active board that inclusively represents all membership sectors. The new Bylaws allow for a 15-19 person board with at-large and council chair positions.

Under the new bylaws, NPA continues the Parking Consultants Council (PCC), Public Parking Council (formerly GINP), Industry Supplier Council (formerly Allied Board of Governors) and adds the following councils: Commercial Operators Council, Valet Parking Council. Nominations for Council leaders will be prepared as a slate for an electronic vote in September. The elected Council Chairs will be added to the slate for election to the NPA Board of Directors along with the slate of at-large board candidates. The current officers will reapply for the board and the officer roles in order to preserve continuity of leadership and the strategic plan.

NPA Board Chair Jed Hatfield, CPP has been a strong advocate for involving all sectors of NPA membership in leadership opportunities at the council and board level and set the course for modernizing NPA's Board governance. Hatfield believes these opportunities to lead, develop best practices and work together as peers enhance everyone's individual careers, their organizations and the industry. NPA Chair Elect Jeff Wolfe is the Governance Committee Chair and has worked with members, leaders and advisory groups over the past two years to develop the roadmap for a more inclusive Board structure.

The election of the NPA Board of Directors will take place at the NPA Board of Directors meeting Oct. 15, 2012.
